Welcome to Brookland Church of England Primary School

It is my great privilege to welcome you to Brookland Church of England Primary School.

Brookland is a very special place. We are a school where children are known, valued and encouraged to be the very best version of themselves. We are proud of our strong sense of community and of the relationships that exist between our children, families, staff, governors and the wider community.

At the heart of everything we do is our Christian vision:

Our vision is inspired by the story of Peter walking on water. It reminds us that life is full of opportunities to step out of the boat – to have the courage to try something new, to persevere when things are difficult, to make the right choice and, importantly, to use what we have to make a difference to the lives of others.

Our values of Courage, Humility, Offering, Integrity, Commitment, Empathy and Service are woven through daily life at Brookland. They shape the way we learn, the way we treat one another and the expectations we have for ourselves.

We want our children to leave Brookland not simply knowing more, but being more: confident, curious, compassionate and resilient young people who have the knowledge, skills and character to make a positive contribution to the world around them.

Learning at Brookland is purposeful, exciting and memorable. We encourage children to ask questions, investigate, create and think deeply. Our curriculum provides opportunities to discover and explore the world around them, while making the most of our wonderful rural setting and our unique Woodland@Brookland provision.

We place great importance on the wellbeing of every child. Children learn best when they feel safe, happy and valued, and we work hard to create an environment where everyone can flourish. We expect our children to be Ready, Respectful and Safe, and we encourage them to take increasing responsibility for their own choices and actions.

We are ambitious for every child at Brookland. We recognise that every child is unique, with their own talents, interests and individual needs. Our role is to discover those strengths, nurture them and provide the support and challenge that enables every child to succeed.

Most importantly, we want children to be happy at Brookland. We want them to enjoy coming to school, to feel that they belong and to look back on their primary years with pride and affection.
