After School Club

Our After School Club is run by and based at the school. The wraparound care is supervised by Mrs MacBean, who is assisted by Miss Roger and Miss Dillon.  Being part of the school enables us to use all the resources and the outside space that are available in the school. In addition due to all the staff holding other roles in the school we are able to provided a seamless extension of the school day.

Mrs MacBean has a level 3 diploma in Playwork and Catering. In addition she is a qualified designated safeguarding lead and part of the school safeguarding team.   Miss Dillon has a level 3 diploma in Children and Young Person Workforce. Miss Roger has a level 3 diploma in supporting teaching and learning.

We can accommodate children of school age from Reception to Year 6. On a daily basis there will also be a choice of craft activities or child initiated play. Children will be playing outside everyday,  please send in old clothing and trainers if you wish them to change for clubs.

If you would like to attend After School Club please let Mrs MacBean (07935 976949) or the school office know 48 hours in advance, so that we can ensure the correct staffing levels on duty.

My son attends both breakfast and after-school club every day.  The sessions are invaluable and enable him to attend Brookland School without affecting my working week.  The breakfast selection is excellent and he often informs me of new foods he has tried and enjoyed.  The activities at after school club are varied and he especially loves the cooking club, he is always very proud of the various things he has made and bought home.  All wraparound care staff are absolutely brilliant and he adores each and every one, I drop him off in the mornings knowing he will be well looked after and look forward to picking him up full of stories of what he has done throughout the day.  Thank you for always putting on such an excellent provision for the children throughout the school year.

The Wraparound care that Brookland provides is essential for me and my family. As a full time working family it is brilliant to know that there is amazing support from Brookland before and after the school starts. Without this help myself and my husband would struggle to keep working and providing for our family.
My daughter loves Breakfast and After school club and from a shy quiet child in reception, she has grown into a confident young lady who has made new friends and learnt new skills as a result of the sessions. When she started Brookland she was behind because she wouldn’t speak to anyone, but after some help from the teachers and the Wrap around care she grew in confidence and now won’t stop talking! 🙂
The teachers make the sessions fun, educational and safe for the children and in the world we live in today for the children to feel safe whilst there is all that a parent can ask for.
It is well worth the money we pay and proves how brilliant the school is. My daughter has been going most days for the last 4 years and will continue until she leaves school.

I can’t recommend Brookland’s wraparound care provision highly enough. As a working parent, I need to trust that when I place my children in childcare, they are not only safe and well looked after, but they enjoy themselves. At Brookland’s pre-school breakfast clubs and after-school sessions, I know that my children are provided a nurturing, safe, and fun environment that allows me to carry out my job content in the knowledge my kids are happy and secure.

Mrs MacBean, Mrs Edmed, Mrs Burroughs, and the entire wraparound team have created an environment where my children feel implicitly comfortable and cared for. My son has even told me, ‘After-school club doesn’t feel like school. It’s just like hanging out with my friends at home.’ My daughter says that after-school club is ‘so much fun’, and even gets disappointed when I occasionally finish work early, as she doesn’t want to miss any sessions.

I am delighted with the learning-through-play opportunities and the focus on child-led activities supplied by the wraparound service. It seems to me that play is valued highly in these sessions, as a tool for communication, learning, and de-stressing for my children, who come home happily messy after making their own playdough, creating artwork, or engaging in other enjoyable hands-on activities. I love that the children are encouraged to be active and to play outside during after-school sessions, but that if they’d prefer, they’re allowed to spend time relaxing, simply watching films/TV shows or quietly reading.
The pre-school breakfast club takes a huge amount of pressure off me in the mornings. My children love the food options provided, and I am grateful they’re eating a nourishing meal before heading to their classrooms for a full day of learning.

The level of flexibility offered by the wraparound staff is incredible. If I’m having a particularly busy day and need the children to stay an hour longer, the wraparound team are happy to accommodate this.

I know many working parents struggle with guilt around the delicate balance between working to support our families while ensuring our children don’t feel neglected as a result. My worries around this have been entirely assuaged by the quality of care provided by Brookland’s wraparound provision, and I would not hesitate to recommend the service to any parent.
